Join us at the New Market Area Library on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 pm as we host Claire Comer, Interpretive Specialist with the Shenandoah National Park, and her associate Allysah Fox. The two will share information about a new exhibit at the Shenandoah National Park, depicting how African Americans experienced Shenandoah National Park during segregation. This program is free, and no registration is required.

January brings winter weather and maybe some extra days to Snuggle with a Book! That will be the theme of the New Market Winter Reading Program for preschool children. The program kicks off with our annual PJ Party for the whole family on January 31 (snow date Wed. February 5) at 6pm and goes through the month of February.  Each child who registers receives a reading log and Reading Buddy stuffed animal. A new, free book is awarded upon completion of the reading log. The finale celebration event to end Winter Reading is planned for Wed. March 6 at 5:00pm (snow date Wed. March 13).

The New Market Area Library hosts two, monthly storytime programs for children. Books and Babies is held the first Wednesday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages birth to three. Preschool Storytime is held on the third Friday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages three to five.

For children's storytimes, if Shenandoah County Schools are closed, the storytime is cancelled.  If schools are going late, storytime will be held.
