Mine Wars - Doug Estep
On Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 PM Doug Estep will present a program on the West Virginia Mine Wars, based on his experience with the PBS Documentary of the same title. The program will go over the major events and history of the mine wars. This includes a discussion of the Paint Creek & Cabin Creek strike of 1912-13, the 1919 strike and first march on Blair Mountain, the Battle of Matewan, the assassination of Sid Hatfield and Ed Chambers, the Battle of Blair Mountain and the Charles Town treason trials. The talk will be accompanied by historic images and a few short film clips. A brief Q&A session will follow the talk.

Mr. Estep will host a Mine Wars and Coal Heritage Tour in partnership with Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation.
