As part of Teen Summer Reading at the County Library, we'll be hosting a Flower Pot Decorating craft on Thursday, June 8 at 4:00 pm. All supplies will be provided, so just bring your creativity and green thumb!

The Fort Valley Library will host a Children's Library Hour this summer on Friday mornings at 10:30 in June and July. Volunteer Susan Abraham will lead program activities by reading books that inspire art and design projects that the children will craft during each hour. We will explore a variety of ideas and materials that will build upon each child's experience and skill set so every child goes home with a project that expresses a story of their own creation. Summer at the library is kicking-off in a big way! Join us on Friday, June 2 from 4:30-5:30 for a sidewalk party outside the library. We'll have bubbles, sidewalk chalk, music, and everyone who registers for the summer reading program at this event will get a free snoball from our friends at Sugar Creek Snowy & Sweet!

Join our community kick-off with Fire, Rescue and Police on June 3 from 10 until 11:30 in the library parking lot. The first fifty registrants will receive a surprise from the police force. Your critter-loving kids will not want to miss this show! Back by popular demand, the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center will be returning for two back-to-back programs with their furry, scaly, and feathered friends. Mark your calendar for Friday, June 9 at 10:30 or 11:30 AM to catch one of these fantastic programs.

For the comfort of the animal ambassadors and the enjoyment of the audience, we will be limiting the seating of these programs on a first-come, first-served basis. If you show up for the first program after it has reached capacity, you will be asked to wait for the second showing at 11:30. Rest assured, the animals, fun, and facts will all be the same!

The New Market Area Library invites you to "All Together Now: Salute to Hometown Heroes", a children's program for Flag Day on Wednesday, June 14 at 10:00 AM. The Shenandoah County Library is bringing story time to Woodstock this summer! Join us at the Shenandoah County Government Center in the board room for stories, songs, and puppets with Ms. Erica.
This special summer series will be held every Thursday afternoon at 2 pm, starting June 15 and running through July 27. Just like our Edinburg storytimes, this program is free and open to all families.

On Friday, June 16 at 1:00 PM you can meet wildlife artist Cindy Kreiman as she leads crafts. Activities may include creating a wildlife collage for the White House, finger/hand prints, clay works, and a science table. Contact the Strasburg Library for more information. 

The Shenandoah County Library is bringing the fun and excitement of a live science demonstration from Talewise to the ShenCo Summer Kick Off! The ShenCo Summer Kick Off on Friday, June 16 is sure to be one of the biggest family events of the season. The gates will be open from 5-9pm but be sure to stop by the library's booth between 6-8pm to see an up-close, hands-on science demonstration from our friends at Talewise.

Children's baseball program with the New Market Rebels at the Basye Library on Saturday, June 17th from 12-2. We will play ball with the players, eat baseball themed snacks, read baseball books, sing songs and enter a drawing to win a cool prize! All kids and their caregivers are welcome.

"All Together in Nature: Pelts and Paws Together" is a children's program being presented by Education Specialist, Megan Dellinger, from Seven Bends State Park on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 AM. For the first time ever, come see Captain Curiosity at the Shenandoah County Library! On Friday, June 23 at 10:30 AM, Captain Curiosity Theatre will be bringing us a thrilling, hilarious, and fact-filled comedy show called "We're All Inside This Together". Kids will laugh and learn as our brave hero, Captain Curiosity, goes on a thrilling adventure through the human body.

Calling all courageous kids: come help us survive this live-action pick-your-path adventure! If you're a fan of the Choose Your Own Adventure series or thrilling survival stories then this is the program for you! Best suited for adventurers ages 8-12, we'll work as a group and vote to pick our own path through a high-stakes adventure story. All the fun happens on Friday, June 30 at 3:30 PM.

This program will be first-come, first-served and we will have to stop seating once the room is full.
Do you want the chance to see a magician who amazed Penn and Teller? Our friend, Wes Iseli, is bringing his Party Magic back to the Shenandoah County Library. Since the last time Wes was here, he was a contestant on Penn & Teller's magic show, Fool Us, where he stumped two of the greatest in the business. Kids can stick around after the show to get a picture with Wes and get a goodie-bag of magical surprises.
The show starts at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 7.

We're finishing out our Summer Reading Program with a bang! The Grammy-nominated, Latin Grammy-winning children's musicians known as 123 Andrés are coming to Shenandoah County on July 31 at 5:30 PM. 123 Andrés have toured internationally, received positive reviews from Billboard magazine, and received two Parents' Choice Awards. Their music, sung in English and Spanish, is sure to have you on your feet.
This celebration is so big we're taking it to the Charterhouse School gym!
